About The Position

Essential Functions (Responsibilities): · Handles intake, case preparation and docket management of the assigned case load. · Provides direct legal representation to Clinic clients in variety of legal cases that include but are not limited to family law, estate planning, veterans’ disability benefits, immigration, and impact litigation. · Develops programs in the to address identified community legal needs. · Engages in community education programs to increase knowledge and understanding of various areas of law and process. · Assists with developing civil rights education materials, programs, and other initiatives. · Assists in building pro bono legal network for identified communities. · Assists in growing partnerships with members and organizations that work in partnership with the Clinic. · Performs related responsibilities as required or assigned. Required Qualifications: Knowledge/Skill/Ability · Good communication, organizational, research and writing, and public speaking skills · Experience or demonstrated commitment to working in a low-income community setting or on issues impacting low-income and marginalized populations · Demonstrated ability to work effectively with persons from varied cultural backgrounds · Preference given to candidates who have completed one semester of a TU Legal Clinic course Equivalent Education/Experience · J.D. from ABA-approved law school · Admitted to Oklahoma Bar Note: The essential job functions and associated qualifications contained in this document describe the general nature and level of the work performed. Requirements

  • Good communication, organizational, research and writing, and public speaking skills
  • Experience or demonstrated commitment to working in a low-income community setting or on issues impacting low-income and marginalized populations
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with persons from varied cultural backgrounds
  • J.D. from ABA-approved law school
  • Admitted to Oklahoma Bar
