We are seeking a Legal Assistant with Washington law experience that is detail-oriented and organized, to support our attorneys and legal team. The Legal Assistant will be responsible for providing administrative and clerical support to ensure efficient daily operations and compliance with court and regulatory requirements. This role includes preparing, organizing, and filing legal documents, maintaining case files, tracking deadlines, managing calendars, and communicating with courts. The ideal candidate is professional, dependable, able to handle confidential information with discretion, demonstrates strong attention to detail, and capable of managing multiples tasks in a fast-paced legal environment. Success in this role requires excellent organizational skills, effective communication, and the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.

Requirements

  • Familiarity with court procedures, filing requirements, and deadlines for collection matters
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage high-volume caseloads and meet strict deadlines
  • Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail

Nice To Haves

  • Legal Assistant Degree/Paralegal Degree or equivalent work experience within the legal field.
  • 2 years’ experience in a legal collection agency setting.
  • Knowledge of debt collection, FDCPA and state-specific collection regulations is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, draft, proofread, and file collection-related legal documents, including complaints, motions, affidavits, judgments, garnishments, and correspondence
  • Maintain and organize electronic case files
  • Track deadlines, hearing dates, statutes of limitations, and filing requirements to ensure compliance
  • Assist in managing attorney calendars and schedule hearings, arbitrations, and court appearances
  • Monitor case statuses and update internal systems
  • Assist with post-judgment collection activities including wage garnishments, bank levies and lien filings
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations, including FDCPA and state collection laws
  • Assist with hearing preparation, including organizing exhibits and documents
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of sensitive and privileged information
  • Communicate professionally with clients, courts, and opposing counsel
  • Handle incoming emails and mail and route items appropriately
  • Perform general administrative tasks to support attorneys and office operations
