About The Position

Stein Sperling is a mid-sized law firm in Montgomery County, MD, with over 45 years of client-focused service. Our dedicated team practices with compassion and integrity, ensuring we meet our clients' needs in a collegial environment. Stein Sperling is seeking a full-time Commercial Litigation Legal Assistant to join our busy and fast-paced Commercial Litigation Department. This position offers the opportunity to provide critical support to multiple attorneys while contributing to a highly collaborative team. In addition to litigation support, this role will also include providing executive-level administrative assistance to the Managing Partner.

Requirements

  • Minimum of five years of litigation experience, including state and federal e-filing.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent judgment, professionalism, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to work occasional overtime as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience supporting senior leadership or executives preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day administrative and legal support to multiple attorneys in the Commercial Litigation practice.
  • Proofread, edit, and format legal documents with strong attention to detail.
  • Handle scanning, copying, and maintaining both electronic and hard-copy files.
  • Independently perform conflict check searches for potential clients.
  • Draft routine correspondence, including cover letters.
  • Prepare and mail packages subject to strict notice and filing deadlines.
  • Maintain attorneys’ calendars and assist with scheduling.
  • Answer phones, interact with clients, and serve as the first point of contact.
  • Prepare litigation notebooks and organize exhibits for trials, hearings, and depositions.
  • Assist with state and federal e-filing as needed.
  • Provide executive administrative support to the Managing Partner, including managing calendars, coordinating meetings, preparing documents and materials, and handling confidential and time-sensitive tasks.
