About the position

The Legal Affairs Internship at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce offers students the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in legal research and analysis within the Institute for Legal Reform (ILR). This paid internship, running from June to August 2025, involves assisting with the implementation of federal and state programs aimed at reducing frivolous litigation and restoring fairness to the civil justice system. Interns will engage in legislative research, memo writing, and participate in various ILR activities, providing a comprehensive introduction to legal affairs in a prominent business organization.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct specific issue related research.
  • Write analytical memos.
  • Participate in ILR member task-force calls, meetings, events, etc.
  • Attend/watch and report on Congressional hearings & events.

Requirements

  • Working towards Juris Doctorate degree
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to prioritize in a changing environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and follow-up skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Internet, and Outlook
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
