The Attorney General is the chief legal officer of the State of Maryland. The Office of the Attorney General (OAG) has the general charge, supervision, and direction of the State’s legal business, acting as legal advisors and representatives of the major agencies, various boards, commissions, officials, and institutions of State Government. The OAG also protects the public by civil enforcement of antitrust, civil rights, consumer protection, and securities laws and regulations and by the prosecution of organized crime, Medicaid fraud, environmental crimes, insurance fraud, state tax evasion, and other statutorily assigned matters. GRADE 14 This position offers a salary range of $28.01/hour - $39.39/hour, with potential for advancement up to $43.49/hour based on qualifications, equity, and hiring guidelines. Initial salary offers are determined by qualifications, experience, and available budget, and typically do not exceed $39.39/ hour. LOCATION OF POSITION Office of the Attorney General Securities Division 200 St. Paul Place Baltimore, Maryland 21202 Main Purpose of Job The OAG is seeking applicants for the position of Legal Administrative Specialist in the Securities Division. The mission of the Securities Division is to protect Maryland investors from investment fraud and misrepresentation. In addition, the Division regulates the sale in Maryland of certain business opportunities including franchise and securities offerings, investigates complaints about potential violations of the investor protection laws, and provides consumers with information they need to make appropriate investment decisions and avoid securities fraud and abuse. The Securities Division has 14 attorneys, including the Commissioner and two Assistant Commissioners, five examiners, three investigators, and six support professionals. The Legal Administrative Specialist provides administrative and paralegal support to the Assistant Attorneys General, investigators, examiners and other staff who work in the Securities Division. The candidate selected for this position will be expected to help implement workflow procedures, including recommending new procedures, technology or filing systems where appropriate, and assisting in other daily operations of the Division. This position is not eligible for telework.
