About The Position

The King County Prosecuting Attorney's Office is seeking a Legal Administrative Professional I to provide essential legal office support under general supervision. This role involves exercising sound independent judgment while performing a variety of tasks that contribute to the office's mission of serving the community and supporting victims. The position emphasizes customer service, confidentiality, and collaboration within a diverse team environment.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of general office principles and procedures, particularly in the criminal justice system.
  • Ability to manage tasks from beginning to end, obtaining all necessary information for completion.
  • Skills in using computers and proficiency in database programs such as PbK, Word, Excel, Adobe Pro, and Outlook.
  • Strong organizational skills to prioritize and complete a variety of tasks accurately with frequent interruptions.
  • Customer service skills in person and via phone, demonstrating discretion, patience, and professionalism.
  • Ability to assist individuals in crisis and work independently or as part of a team.
  • Skills in exercising initiative and following through with work assignments.
  • Demonstrated reliable and timely attendance, following written and verbal directions to complete tasks on schedule.
  • Ability to meet deadlines with attention to detail and adapt to unscheduled responsibilities.
  • Ability to accept supervision, coaching, and feedback.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of the criminal justice system and the PAO is a plus, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide exceptional customer service to visitors and callers, relaying information in accordance with PAO policy.
  • Direct calls to appropriate individuals/units within the office or refer callers to external resources or partner agencies.
  • Maintain discretion, tact, and confidentiality when handling sensitive information.
  • Professionally interact with the public, law enforcement, defense attorneys, judges, court staff, and PAO colleagues.
  • Utilize the PAO case management system, Prosecution by Karpel (PbK), to look up information and upload documents as requested.
  • Read criminal cases to determine victim information and produce victim notification packets and letters.
  • Monitor and address shared queues in PbK and process SSOSA reports and SAU declines.
  • Complete Domestic Violence Info Net reporting and provide administrative duties for U-VISA processing.
  • Maintain and update the Victim Assistance Unit reception manual and help train new personnel.
  • Manage parking validations for victims and witnesses and electronically file documents through the Superior Court Clerk's Office online portal.
  • Assist supervisor, paralegal(s), and Restitution Investigators with PbK entry and other assigned duties.
  • Monitor, distribute, and scan a large volume of US mail, emails, and faxes received.
  • Order and maintain office supplies and manage office equipment.
  • Assist with special projects as they arise and actively participate in PAO race and equity work.
