About The Position

The Bankruptcy and Litigation Legal Administrative Assistant (LAA) provides high-level administrative and document support to attorneys in the Bankruptcy and Litigation practice groups. This role ensures efficient case management by coordinating filings, preparing documentation, managing deadlines, and maintaining accurate records. The LAA serves as an essential resource to attorneys, clients, and internal staff, contributing to smooth workflow and exceptional service delivery.

Requirements

  • Bachelors degree preferred; high school diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 5 years of legal administrative experience, ideally in bankruptcy or litigation.
  • Proficiency in MS Word (including styles), Adobe Acrobat, pdfDocs, and familiarity with Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Experience with legal terminology, court systems, e-filing platforms, and document management systems (iManage).
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple deadlines with accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to work collaboratively and interact courteously with clients and attorneys.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, proofread, and edit correspondence, pleadings, memoranda, service lists, and related documents.
  • Draft standard bankruptcy filings and litigation documents under attorney supervision.
  • Perform accurate electronic filing (CM/ECF and eFileTexas.gov) and manage judge-specific filing requirements.
  • Compile, scan, and profile documents in the appropriate document management system (iManage).
  • Monitor case developments, obtain court dockets, and keep attorneys informed of updates.
  • Maintain attorney-specific case lists, status reports, calendars, and deadline tracking.
  • Prepare pleadings notebooks, indexes, and exhibits; update and organize case files regularly.
  • Assist with prebills and billing processes as assigned.
  • Coordinate attorney travel, meetings, scheduling, and expense reimbursements.
  • Handle client intake forms, maintain accurate records, and ensure case files follow firm procedures.
  • Answer phones and provide excellent client service with professionalism and discretion.
  • Enter, review, and revise timesheets as needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality in all firm and client matters.
  • Collaborate with attorneys, staff, and external contacts to support workflow.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the Bankruptcy and Litigation teams.
