About The Position

Join our dynamic team at the NBK Lighting Lab in Northbrook, where we specialize in testing luminaires, LEDs, and LED drivers. This is a full-time, on-site position (Monday through Friday), ideal for individuals who are passionate about lighting technology and eager to contribute to a collaborative and innovative lab environment. As a Lighting Lab Technician, you will be responsible for hands-on testing and evaluation of lighting products, supporting product development and quality assurance efforts. You'll work closely with engineers and other lab personnel to ensure products meet performance and safety standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; post-secondary technical education or three years of relevant experience preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) is essential.
  • Experience with lab equipment and data acquisition tools is a plus.
  • Ability and willingness to incorporate automation into daily testing tasks.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to interact professionally with internal teams and external customers.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team-based environment.
  • Proven ability to think creatively and contribute to process improvements.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate test equipment for evaluating luminaires, LEDs, and LED drivers.
  • Build or adapt test setups based on datasheets, schematics, and engineering instructions.
  • Perform tests following defined procedures and document results accurately.
  • Analyze test performance and assist in troubleshooting issues.
  • Communicate with customers and internal teams during test setups and evaluations.
  • Maintain lab equipment and perform basic calibrations as needed.
  • Support continuous improvement by suggesting enhancements to test processes and equipment.
  • Operate with minimal supervision while adhering to safety and quality standards.
