About The Position

The University of Minnesota is seeking part-time, adjunct Lecturers for the Minnesota English Language Program (MELP) within the College of Continuing and Professional Studies. These temporary, non-tenured positions involve teaching ESL courses, collaborating on curriculum development, and participating in program duties. Instructors will be hired on a per-term basis based on program needs, contributing to a supportive and diverse educational environment.

Requirements

  • Demonstrative skill & commitment to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI).
  • MA in TESOL or a closely related field by time of appointment.
  • At least one semester of ESL teaching at the college or university level.
  • Evidence of an excellent teaching record.
  • Superior communication skills in English.

  • Significant experience teaching ESL at the college or university level.
  • Successful completion of an ESL practicum course.
  • Experience mentoring new ESL teachers.
  • Experience teaching diverse groups of students.
  • Experience integrating technology into language teaching.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and teach one or more ESL courses.
  • Attend staff meetings and orientation.
  • Collaborate with other teachers on curriculum development.
  • Conduct student assessments and fulfill other program duties as assigned.
