About The Position

The School of Education at Point Park University seeks a Lecturer who is energized by innovation, responsive teaching, and the evolving realities of education. This teaching-focused position is designed for an educational leader who embraces change, challenges traditional approaches, and prepares educators and leaders to think critically, teach creatively, and lead with purpose. The successful candidate will begin in Fall 2026, and will contribute to a dynamic, student-centered academic community committed to equity, experiential learning, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in education or a closely related field (doctoral degree preferred for some teaching assignments).
  • Experience teaching, mentoring, or leading in educational settings.
  • Demonstrated commitment to student-centered, inclusive, and innovative teaching and leadership practices.
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset.

Nice To Haves

  • Doctoral degree (EdD or PhD) in Education or a related discipline.
  • Experience in educator preparation, PreK-12 education, or career and technical education.
  • Expertise in online, hybrid, or competency-based learning models.
  • Experience integrating technology, experiential learning, or community-based partnerships into instruction.
  • Demonstrated commitment to equity, access, and culturally responsive education.

Responsibilities

  • Design and teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses that model progressive, inclusive, and evidence-informed instructional practices.
  • Create learning experiences that prioritize active learning, real-world application, and reflective practice.
  • Integrate instructional technologies and emerging tools to enhance engagement in face-to-face, hybrid, and online environments.
  • Develop flexible, authentic assessments that reflect professional practice and support learner growth.
  • Participate in ongoing curriculum review and refinement to ensure relevance, rigor, and alignment with university and School of Education accreditation and licensure standards.
  • Foster inclusive, supportive learning spaces where all students feel valued, challenged, and empowered.
  • Serve as a mentor to students, emphasizing professional identity, ethical and culturally responsive practices, and lifelong learning.
  • Provide meaningful feedback and guidance that supports students' academic success and readiness for the field.
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and community partners to strengthen curriculum, practicum, student teaching, field experiences, and career pathways.
  • Contribute to program assessment, student learning assessments, university and School of Education accreditation efforts, and innovation initiatives.
  • Participate actively in departmental conversations focused on reimagining leadership, teaching, learning, and educator preparation.
  • Stay current with educational research, policy, and practice, particularly as they relate to equity, innovation, and workforce needs.
  • Engage in ongoing professional learning and reflective practice aligned with School and University priorities.
