The Department of Sociology at Boise State University invites applications for a full-time, nine-month Lecturer position beginning August 2026. This is a teaching-focused appointment with primary responsibility for delivering high-quality undergraduate instruction across a range of Sociology courses, and potentially courses affiliated with Ethnic Studies or Gender Studies, depending on departmental needs and candidate expertise. Lecturers in the department typically teach a 4/4 course load and play an integral role in the academic life of the department. In addition to teaching, the successful candidate will be expected to contribute to departmental service and shared governance activities, support student success and retention, and participate in curriculum development and assessment efforts. Lecturers are expected to remain professionally engaged through disciplinary involvement, pedagogical development, and/or appropriate campus and community engagement. The successful candidate will demonstrate a commitment to student-centered instruction, clear communication, and collaboration with colleagues. The Department of Sociology offers undergraduate degrees in Sociology, Social Science, and Ethnic Studies, as well as minors in Sociology, Ethnic Studies, Labor Studies, Gender Studies, and Mexican-American Studies. Faculty and lecturers are deeply engaged in undergraduate education, interdisciplinary collaboration, and applied learning opportunities that connect students to local and regional communities. The Department of Sociology is housed within the College of Arts and Sciences (COAS), the largest and most diverse college at Boise State University.
