About The Position

The University of Hawai'i at Manoa is seeking a part-time Lecturer for the Thompson School of Social Work & Public Health. This position is temporary and will be filled from a lecturer pool, subject to the availability of funding and actual staffing requirements. The Lecturer will be responsible for teaching graduate and undergraduate courses in various areas of social work, including but not limited to social work practice, social welfare policy, research, human behavior, mental health, and substance abuse.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in social work or related field from an accredited school or university to teach non-practice classes
  • Master's degree in social work from an accredited school or university plus two years of post-master's practice experience in social work to teach practice classes.

Nice To Haves

  • Teaching experience at the college level in one or more of the areas stated
  • At least two years of post-MSW social work related experience
  • Work experience related to the area of teaching interest
  • Ability or interest in teaching online courses
  • Familiarity with multicultural issues in service provision.

Responsibilities

  • Teach graduate and undergraduate courses in social work
  • Cover topics such as social work practice, social welfare policy, research, human behavior, children and families, mental health, health, gerontology, substance abuse, social work history, and general social work practice.
