The Department of Physics & Astronomy acknowledges that science is intrinsically dependent on human creativity. New ideas emerge most readily from groups that include people with diverse talents, backgrounds, and ways of thinking. Collaboration among people of all cultures and backgrounds enhances our experience as scientists and contributes to excellence in teaching, learning, and research. We actively promote a climate that celebrates our differences and strengthens our department by embracing and working to increase our diversity, and by fostering equity. The Department of Physics & Astronomy offers a rigorous Bachelor of Science program with concentrations in both Physics and Astronomy, as well as general education and service courses. As a department we seek faculty who are passionate about teaching Physics and/or Astronomy to a diverse student population.
