About The Position
The School of Arts and Sciences at Dalton State College invites applicants for a full-time Communication position (10-month), beginning August 1, 2025. Faculty with rank workload at Dalton State College consists of the following five components: (1) teaching, (2) student success, (3) research/scholarship/creative activity or academic achievement, (4) professional service to the institution or community, and (5) professional growth. For lecturers, work in teaching and student success is emphasized. This tenure-track position involves a 4/4 (24 credit hours during the academic year) teaching load Fall and Spring semester (5/4 teaching load for Lecturer) (27 credit hours during the academic year) and optional Summer School sections. Primary course taught will be COMM 1110, Fundamentals of Speech, in face-to-face, hybrid, and streaming modalities, with opportunities for 2000- to 4000-level course assignments after the first year. Candidate may also be required to teach Perspectives 1010, Dalton States first-year experience course. Position includes academic advising of 15 to 20 majors in the B.A. Communication and B.A. Interdisciplinary Studies programs. Minimum annual salary for Assistant Professor of Communication: $53,000 - Salary is commensurate with education and experience. Minimum annual salary for Lecturer: $44,000.
