About The Position

The University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point (UWSP) is accepting applications for the position of Lecturer of Sociology in the School of Behavioral and Social Sciences. This is a continuous recruitment process aimed at creating a pool of candidates for future part-time or full-time lecturer opportunities. Lecturers are hired on a per-course basis each semester, and teaching one semester does not guarantee an assignment for the following semester. The teaching load can vary between 1-12 credits per semester. While the position is listed as on-site, there may be partially remote and remote opportunities available.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a master's degree in sociology from an accredited college or university.
  • Experience with college level instruction.
  • Ability to effectively instruct and engage with a wide range of students, encompassing diverse backgrounds, learning styles, and abilities.

Nice To Haves

  • Earned doctorate in sociology from an accredited college or university. ABD considered.
  • Demonstrated commitment to reflective teaching practices.
  • Experience with teaching in multiple modalities, such as in-person, online, and hybrid.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitates classroom, online and/or laboratory instruction for one or more courses, including assessment of student performance.
  • Develops instructional design and curriculum relevant to a course of instruction.
  • Serves as an initial point of contact for students as it relates to specific course or series content and expectations.
