About The Position

The nursing program at Texas A&M University - Texarkana awards Bachelor of Science degrees (ADN-BSN & Traditional BSN) and Master of Science degrees in Nursing Administration, Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, and Family Nurse Practitioner. The programs are offered face-to-face (Traditional BSN), online (ADN-BSN), and online/hybrid (MSN) and are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). The nursing programs are part of the College of Nursing, Health, and Human Services (CNHHS) and will be pursuing an aggressive program growth agenda over the next five (5) years. The appointment will be for a 12-month full-time faculty member with a hire date of January 2026. Job Location: This will be a full-time hybrid position, and the selected candidate will be required to be on the Texas A&M University – Texarkana campus a minimum of once per month. Multiple positions may be hired from this posting. The successful candidate must be eligible for employment in the U.S. at the time of hire. No sponsorship of employment visas is authorized for this position.

Requirements

  • Unencumbered RN license in the State of Texas or an unencumbered RN Compact license.
  • Current unencumbered Texas APRN license and national certification (FNP or PMHNP).
  • Ph.D., DNP, Ed.D. with advanced practice certification and experience in the area of course being taught OR Master of Nursing Degree with advanced practice certification and experience in the area of course being taught.
  • Ability to engage in online instruction and limited on campus for clinical, didactic, and student/program needs.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Doctorate of Science in Nursing or equivalent.
  • Experience using Canvas or similar LMS 9.1.
  • Experience teaching in a classroom setting and a clinical setting.
  • Current clinical practical experience.
  • Leadership, Community Health, Public Health, and/or Rural Health experience.
  • A record of Professional Activities related to nursing or nursing education.
  • Evidence of research agenda and scholarship.

Responsibilities

  • Teach courses in the MSN program in a variety of formats (face-to-face, online, hybrid) including didact, clinical, and simulation-based instruction and supervision.
  • Chair or serve on faculty search committees for the program.
  • Promote enrollment in programs on campus and in wider communities as time and budgets permit.
  • Maintain active memberships or affiliations with relevant professional organizations.
  • Provide student advisement as assigned.
  • Participate actively in program and curriculum development, assessment, revision, renewal, and accreditation as necessary.
  • Perform appropriate levels of service within the university, region, and/or with regional/national healthcare entities.
  • Develop collaborative relationships with local and regional healthcare entities.
  • Seek and participate in independent and/or collaborative extramurally funded projects and research.
  • Supervise students in clinical and experiential learning experiences.
  • Supervise all initial nursing procedures performed by the student in the clinical area and ascertain that the student is competent before allowing the student to perform an actual nursing procedure independently.
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate curriculum.
  • Participate in the development, implementation, and enforcement of standards/policies for admission, progression, probation, and dismissal of students, and participate in academic guidance and counseling.
