About The Position

The Department of Art & Visual Culture, in the College of Design at Iowa State University (ISU), invites applications for the position of a full-time Lecturer in the area of Drawing. The appointment for this position is anticipated to begin August 16, 2026, and the initial length of the appointment will be for 1 year, until May 15, 2027, with possibility of renewal in future years. Qualified candidates will bring an in-depth knowledge in the art and instruction of introductory drawing. The successful candidate will teach multiple sections of the required drawing course to beginning design students as part of the College of Design's shared first-year students. The successful candidate will assist in updating and evolving the course content to align with contemporary drawing techniques and tools. Candidates should demonstrate the ability, and flexibility, to teach a range of drawing techniques (traditional and digital) applicable across various creative disciplines. While a member of the Core team, the successful candidate will prepare the syllabus, course materials, and assessment tools for their courses, aligning with the learning objectives that are coordinated across multiple sections. Additional responsibilities include holding office hours, participating in student reviews, attendance at Design Studies Core meetings and Art & Visual Culture faculty meetings, and participation in shared governance and departmental service. Requirements

  • Master of Fine Arts (MFA) degree, or equivalent (MARCH, MID, etc.), OR BFA in fine/visual/studio and masters in related discipline
