About The Position

The University of Maine at Augusta is seeking applicants for the full-time position of Lecturer of Dental Health located on the UMA Bangor Campus. This position is a nine-month academic year appointment starting on September 1, 2026, through May 31, 2027, and may be renewed annually until earning just-cause status after 6 years. The major duties for this appointment include but are not limited to teaching and advising students. Teaching assignments may include didactic, preclinical, clinical, and laboratory courses in the Dental Hygiene Program. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Health, Education, or a related field
  • Maine RDH License in good standing and Maine Local Anesthesia Authority must be documented by the date of hire
  • Minimum of two years of recent clinical experience
  • Previous successful teaching experience in higher education preferably in dental hygiene
  • Ability to travel statewide as needed (license and ability to provide transportation)

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree or matriculated in a Master's degree program in Health, Education, or a related field
  • Certified Dental Assistant (CDA)
  • Previous successful teaching experience in higher education specifically in dental hygiene radiology and dental preclinical lab courses
  • Knowledge and experience using Microsoft Office programs (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google Docs, One Drive, and with electronic dental records software (e.g. Fuse, Eaglesoft, Dentrix, etc.)
  • Active engagement in professional development, service, and professional associations
