Old Dominion University's Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies seeks a full-time permanent Lecturer (renewable, not tenure eligible) with an AOS in Cybersecurity Ethics or a closely related field. There are no strict AOC requirements, but we prefer a candidate who can also teach other classes in applied ethics. Cybersecurity Ethics plays a key role in the School of Cybersecurity, as all undergraduate majors are required to complete it to graduate. The candidate will be in charge of the content of the course, particularly in its online instances. We expect the candidate to have experience teaching ethics, particularly focused on technological issues, and the ability to communicate complex ideas to undergraduates. The teaching load is 4/4. The candidate will primarily teach online sections of cybersecurity ethics classes. The candidate will also be responsible for coordinating unified course design across additional sections of cybersecurity ethics, usually taught by part-time faculty.

  • Teach online sections of cybersecurity ethics classes.
  • Coordinate unified course design across additional sections of cybersecurity ethics.
  • Communicate complex ideas effectively to undergraduates.
  • Manage course content for cybersecurity ethics.
  • PhD in Philosophy or Religious Studies or in a related field with 18 graduate-level credit hours in Philosophy preferred.
  • Experience teaching ethics, particularly focused on technological issues.
  • AOC in Applied Ethics, such as Bioethics or Business Ethics.
