About The Position

The Department of Physics and Astronomy at Butler University is seeking a Lecturer in Physics to begin on August 15, 2025. The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching and the ability to foster an inclusive learning environment for a diverse student body. Responsibilities include teaching introductory and calculus-based physics courses, as well as a physical science course for non-science majors, with a teaching load of 12 credit hours per semester.

Requirements

  • Ph.D. in Physics or Astrophysics preferred.
  • Master's degree in Physics or Astrophysics considered.
  • Demonstrated commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching.
  • Experience with inclusive and evidenced-based pedagogy.

  • Experience in mentoring students from historically underrepresented groups.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

  • Teach introductory algebra-based Physics courses.
