About The Position

Attention: The Department of Art and Design at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater invites applications for a full-time Academic Staff Lecturer (TL020) in Graphic Design, with an emphasis on Publication Design as well as experience in Digital UI/UX Interface Design, beginning in Fall 2026. Job Details: The successful candidate will contribute to the department’s growing programs in Visual Communication Design and Media Arts and Game Development (MAGD). This position is a full-time, renewable, nine-month appointment.

Requirements

  • A Masters (MA, MFA) in Graphic Design or an equivalent terminal degree with a focus in publication design and UI/UX design is required.
  • Candidates must demonstrate a strong command of typography, visual communication, and conceptual design skills, and be fluent in current UI/UX design trends, concepts and theories.
  • Proficiency in relevant industry-standard software and the Macintosh platform is expected, along with an understanding of cross-platform workflows.
  • Ability to interact respectfully with people with diverse socioeconomic, cultural and ethnic backgrounds
  • Willingness and ability to be an active participant in following applicable safety rules and regulations including necessary training and drills

Nice To Haves

  • Previous university-level teaching experience in all levels of Graphic Design is highly preferred.
  • Additional preference will be given to candidates with experience in 4-D design and those who demonstrate a strong record of professional creative activity.
  • Furthermore, individuals with dedicated teaching and/or professional experience with AI software usage within ethical, creative use applications and outcomes are encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

  • Primary teaching responsibilities will include courses in Digital Foundations (Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator), Publication Design (InDesign), and UI/UX Interface Design, along with potential assignments in the General Education course World of the Arts (WOTA).
  • Candidates should demonstrate strong communication and organizational skills, a commitment to inclusive and effective teaching practices, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team-oriented academic environment.
