About the position

The position is for a part-time, non-tenure track lecturer in Interdisciplinary Studies at Hawaii Community College, with assignments available at East Hawaii (Hilo), West Hawaii (Kailua-Kona), and North Hawaii (Honokaa) campuses. The role is temporary and contingent on the availability of funds and staffing requirements. The lecturer will be responsible for conducting lectures and laboratory courses, maintaining office hours, conducting student evaluations, and participating in course assessments. The position may require evening, weekend, and off-campus assignments, and the lecturer must be able to attend meetings and trainings on short notice.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct lecture and laboratory courses in the discipline under general supervision.
  • May include instructional assignments involving distance education.
  • Maintain at least one office hour per week for each class taught.
  • Conduct student evaluations of teaching effectiveness.
  • Participate in assessment of course learning outcomes.
  • Adhere to all due dates, including the online submission of grades.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Counseling and Guidance, Counseling Psychology, College Student Personnel Services, Human Resources, Communications, or a related field; OR
  • Bachelor's degree in Counseling and Guidance, Counseling Psychology, College Student Personnel Services, Human Resources, Communications, or a related field plus 3 years of related work experience.
