About the position

The Lecturer, CC (Health) position at the University of Hawai'i Maui College is a part-time temporary role focused on teaching health-related courses. The lecturer will be responsible for preparing course materials, maintaining office hours, and collaborating with other instructors. This position requires in-person attendance and may involve teaching at various locations, including outreach sites.

Responsibilities

  • Teach assigned courses in the discipline qualified for.
  • Maintain a minimum of one office hour per week for each course taught.
  • Prepare course syllabi, grading, and reports related to teaching and student progress.
  • Work under supervision of the discipline coordinator/division chairperson in integrating teaching efforts with other instructors in the discipline area.
  • May include instructional assignments involving distance education.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Health or Health Related Field AND Certificates as appropriate (e.g. First Aid, CPR, etc.)
  • OR Bachelor's Degree in Health or Health Related Field AND three (3) years Related Work Experience AND Certificates as appropriate (e.g. First Aid, CPR, etc.)
  • OR Associate Degree in Health or Health Related Field AND a Baccalaureate Degree in any field AND five (5) years Related Work Experience AND Certificates as appropriate (e.g. First Aid, CPR, etc.)

Nice-to-haves

  • Successful community college and or university teaching experience in the field.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse student populations.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively.
  • Ability to use writing assignments and integrate teaching of appropriate thinking skills into course content as an integral part of student's classroom learning activities.
