About The Position

The position is for a Lecturer in Early Childhood Education at Hawaii Community College, with potential assignments at East Hawaii (Hilo), West Hawaii (Kailua-Kona), and North Hawaii (Honokaa) campuses. This is a part-time, non-tenure track role that is temporary and contingent on the availability of funds and staffing requirements. The lecturer will be responsible for conducting lectures and laboratory courses, maintaining office hours, conducting student evaluations, and participating in course assessments. The role may require evening, weekend, and off-campus assignments, and attendance at meetings and trainings on short notice.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field, or
  • Master's degree in any field with 15 credits in Early Childhood Education related courses plus 1 year of related work experience, or
  • Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field with 3 years of related work experience, or
  • Bachelor's degree in any field with 15 credits in Early Childhood Education related courses plus 5 years of related work experience.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct lecture and laboratory courses in Early Childhood Education.

  • Conduct student evaluations of teaching effectiveness.
  • Participate in assessment of course learning outcomes.
  • Adhere to all due dates, including the online submission of grades.
