About The Position

The Lecturer in Biology at Hawaii Pacific University is responsible for delivering, coordinating, and developing biology courses while providing academic service to the university. The role includes planning and supervising semester activities, maintaining student performance records, and assigning grades, with a teaching load of thirty contact hours per academic year and five additional hours of office hours weekly.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Biology, Marine Science, Biochemistry, or a closely related field.
• Experience and enthusiasm for teaching general biology courses.
• Demonstrated expertise in biology and ability to teach entry-level or advanced courses in biology and/or marine biology.

Nice To Haves

• Ph.D. or other terminal degree (e.g., M.D., D.O.) in Biology, Biochemistry, Physiology, or a closely related field.
• Several years of experience teaching college students.

Responsibilities

• Develop a syllabus of course activities that meet the requirements of the course description and program chair.
• Plan and deliver individual classes that conform to the syllabus and university requirements.
• Maintain accurate and complete records on student participation and performance.
• Evaluate student performance based on established learning outcomes and assign grades.
• Submit required documents, including grades, in a timely manner.
• Assist in program assessments as required.
• Meet deadlines as directed by the department chair, associate dean, or dean of the college.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
