About The Position

Washburn University is seeking a Lecturer in Art/Photography to join its Art Department starting August 1, 2025. Requirements

• A completed Master of Fine Arts (MFA).
• Demonstrated dedication to developing inclusive teaching practices that engage students from all backgrounds.

Nice To Haves

• Graduate training or experience in traditional darkroom/chemical processes and digital photography.
• Experience in teaching areas such as 2D, Graphic Design, and other foundation areas.
• Demonstrated ability to teach photography as evidenced by portfolio and/or exhibition record.
• Experience as full-time faculty or instructor of record at the college level.

Responsibilities

• Teach three studio courses per semester (12-hours per semester) either in-person or online, depending on departmental needs.
• Develop and teach undergraduate Photography courses, which may include courses in other media, foundation or capstone courses.
• Critique student art/design work and provide project mentoring to students.
• Engage in service activities within the department, university, and profession.
• Maintain the Photography studio, darkroom/chemicals, and lighting studio, ensuring a safe environment.
