About The Position

The University of Virginia's School of Continuing and Professional Studies (SCPS) seeks applicants to fill multiple tenure-ineligible part-time, limited-term, adjunct instructor positions for the UVA SCPS Accounting Certificate. This 100% online program predominantly serves working adult learners seeking to satisfy accounting education course requirements to sit for the CPA Exam. Specifically, we seek experienced instructors with demonstrated expertise in Tax Compliance and Planning (TCP), Business Analysis and Reporting (BAR), and/or the Information Systems and Controls (ISC) Discipline Sections of the Certified Public Accountant Exam. We seek experienced professionals to teach existing courses and assist with development of additional courses that serve related learning objectives included in the Uniform CPA Examination Blueprints provided by AICPA. The ideal candidate will be a versatile accounting professional with a broad knowledge of multiple areas of accounting, experience with online instruction, and knowledge of instructional design fundamentals. SCPS employs lecturers who have applicable content expertise at the appropriate level and who provide evidence of recent and/or current professional and teaching experience which supports students achieving program learning outcomes. Accounting courses are taught 100% online and typically meet synchronously one night per week throughout the semester. Courses are offered in the fall, spring, and summer academic semesters. Courses are typically 12-15 weeks in length. Class size averages range from 15-25 students. Live class meetings are weeknights (based on Eastern Standard or Daylight Time).
