The opportunity: Are you seeking an opportunity to manage leave claims and ensure compliance with regulations? We’re looking for a dedicated Leave Specialist to handle claims with the guidance and support of a Senior Manager. You’ll be responsible for reviewing and investigating claims, identifying needed resources and ensuring timely and accurate communication. You’ll navigate state, federal and local regulations to determine eligibility and benefits for FMLA, PFL, ADA, and other leave programs.

Requirements

  • Ability to work with a diverse range of people.
  • At least 1 year of hands-on experience with FMLA and/or PFL.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to analyze situations critically.
  • Expertise in interpreting and explaining FMLA, PFL, ADA, and other leave regulations.
  • Adaptability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Consistent performance in meeting or exceeding performance metrics.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Strong time management skills and ability to prioritize work duties.
  • Proficiency with computers and comfort in a PC environment, using MS Word, Excel, and email systems.
  • Professional collaboration with coworkers, clients, claimants, vendors, and other stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and manage claims data, ensuring everything is accurate and accessible.
  • Investigate leave claims by gathering crucial information on FMLA, PFL, ADA, and other leave claims.
  • Ensure fair and accurate claim decisions in line with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Use medical and vocational resources to evaluate claims and escalate or transfer them when necessary.
  • Document decisions and communicate results clearly to claimants, employers, and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure claimants and employers are notified promptly using their preferred communication methods.
  • Coordinate return-to-work plans with vocational rehabilitation consultants.
  • Collaborate with employers, health care providers, and consultants to ensure client employees and claimants receive necessary accommodations.
  • Participate in ongoing training and development to enhance skills and grow in the role.
