About The Position

SUMMARY: The Leave of Absence Specialist supports the administration and coordination of employee leave programs in accordance with organizational policies, collective bargaining agreements, and applicable federal and state laws. Reporting to the Leave of Absence Services Program Manager, this role assists employees and managers throughout the leave process, ensuring accurate case management, payroll administration for paid leaves, and compliance with regulations such as FMLA, PFML, RIPFMLA, ADA, and USERRA. The Specialist collaborates with HR partners, third-party leave administrators, and internal departments to provide guidance on leave benefits, documentation requirements, payroll deductions, and return-to-work processes while delivering high-quality customer service to employees and leaders. PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Coordinate and administer employee leave of absence cases in partnership with the third-party leave administrator. Review and process leave documentation to ensure compliance with applicable laws, policies, and collective bargaining agreements. Provide guidance to employees and managers on leave policies, pay status, benefits continuation, and return-to-work requirements. Process payroll for employees on paid leave and review/process benefit premium payments during leave periods. Collaborate with HR teams including Benefits, HR Business Partners, Occupational Health, and HRIS to resolve leave-related inquiries. Escalate complex cases or policy interpretation issues to the Leave of Absence Program Manager as needed. Maintain confidentiality and accurate documentation of leave cases. Support continuous improvement efforts for leave administration processes and employee experience. Perform other related duties as assigned. EDUCATION: High school diploma required. LICENSES/CERTIFICATIONS: Leave management certifications preferred (e.g., CLMS, or FMLA/ADA certifications). EXPERIENCE/SKILLS: High school diploma required. Minimum of two years of experience in Human Resources, leave administration, benefits administration, or a customer-focused administrative environment. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications. Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Requirements
