About The Position

The Leave of Absence Specialist is responsible for processing Leave of Absence (LOA) requests from associates at Kroger. This role involves collaboration with various stakeholders, including vendors and Human Resource departments, to ensure compliance with company policies and applicable laws. The specialist will also handle Short Term Disability payments and provide support to associates regarding their leave requests.

• Payroll experience, with knowledge of KERMIT or other payroll systems.

Responsibilities

• Process Leave of Absence (LOA) requests received from associates.
• Collaborate with the vendor and Division Human Resource departments on LOA requests.
• Verify that all LOA forms and supporting documentation are completed accurately.
• Check all LOA requests for compliance with federal and state laws, union contracts, HIPAA, and Company policies.
• Approve or deny LOA requests based on compliance with Company policies and applicable laws.
• Communicate the status of LOA requests with associates requesting the leaves.
• Process and calculate Short Term Disability payments.
• Monitor the status of approved LOAs on a weekly basis.
• Respond to Leave of Absence and Short Term Disability questions from division and store associates.
• Work with other HRSSC departments and division HR departments on proper coding of LOA related tasks.
