About The Position

The Housing Solutions Leasing Agent assists homeless and at-risk families in achieving economic opportunity, independence, and permanent housing. This role focuses on helping households secure stable housing by identifying housing leads and working closely with landlords, property managers, and real estate agents. The agent must stay informed on fair housing laws and support clients with housing-related needs.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of office-related experience
  • Strong verbal communication skills, especially with landlords or small groups
  • Meet a weekly call quota of 50–150 calls (subject to change)
  • Ability to assist with Scattered Sites unit access, upkeep, and turnover
  • Valid CA driver’s license, insurance, and reliable vehicle required; must be comfortable traveling for home and community visits
  • Ability to work with diverse populations
  • Skilled in planning, organizing, crisis intervention, and verbal/written communication
  • Maintain a professional, safe, and respectful environment
  • Responsible, dependable, and a team player
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
  • Prolonged periods of sitting and computer work

Responsibilities

  • Develop knowledge of the County’s and regional SPA housing markets
  • Build strong relationships with landlords, property managers, brokers, and developers
  • Share housing leads and collaborate with case managers, navigators, and leasing agents
  • Assemble informational packets for local landlords
  • Maintain a list of available housing opportunities
  • Identify and secure traditional (market rate, affordable/low-income) and non-traditional housing options
  • Conduct cold calls to inquire about available units
  • Match Rapid Re-housing clients to housing leads
  • Respond to phone inquiries and make appropriate referrals
  • Assist with housing inspections and rent reasonability processes as needed
  • Support at-risk households in maintaining or relocating to stable housing
  • Resolve conflicts and offer emergency support to landlords and property managers
  • Promptly answer and respond to phone calls
  • Collaborate with Rapid Re-housing staff on housing matters
  • Assist case managers in finding appropriate units for clients
  • Help gather required documentation and provide coaching support when needed
  • Stay current on Fair Housing laws, legal issues, and housing regulations
  • Consult with staff on client-related legal matters
  • Attend networking events, community meetings, and funder/partner meetings relevant to the role
  • Support program activities as needed
  • Participate in staff meetings, trainings, and team-building events
  • Build new partnerships with agencies to enhance service delivery
  • Stay informed through seminars, conferences, and relevant publications
