About The Position

A Lease Operator is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of oil and gas wells on specific leases. This role involves monitoring production, maintaining equipment, ensuring safety compliance, and optimizing well performance.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • 2-3 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, preferably in a similar role
  • Valid Colorado driver’s license with clean driving record (extensive travel between sites may be required)
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in various weather conditions
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and on-call rotations
  • Operate a vehicle safely in all weather conditions
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
  • Proficiency in using SCADA systems and other industry-specific software
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and regulatory compliance in the oil and gas sector
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Safety-oriented mindset with a commitment to environmental stewardship
  • Strong positive attitude, driven to succeed

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and maintain oil and gas wells, pumps, and related equipment
  • Conduct regular inspections of well sites and production facilities
  • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshoot operational issues
  • Record and report production data, flow rates, and other relevant information
  • Ensure compliance with safety and environmental regulations
  • Coordinate with third-party contractors and suppliers as needed
  • Optimize production processes to maximize efficiency and output
  • Respond to and manage emergency situations
  • Perform basic to intermediate level pumping skills including; accurately gauging oil and water tanks, reading gas check meters and custody meters, reading well pressures.
  • Properly operating heater/treaters, 3 phase separators, and making repairs as necessary.
  • Record site and well data in the company production system(s) daily, with accuracy.
  • Seek ways to reduce lease operating expenses by noting problems and/or recommending courses of actions to supervisor
  • Work with various forms of artificial lift, including plunger lift, gas lift, rod pump
