About The Position

Holy Rosary Catholic School is seeking a dedicated and faith-filled Learning Specialist to serve in our Learning Center Program. This program supports students with language-based learning difficulties through a structured, multi-sensory approach rooted in the Orton-Gillingham methodology. The Learning Specialist will provide targeted instruction in a small-group setting (4:1 student-teacher ratio) while fostering academic growth, confidence, and a love of learning in alignment with our Catholic mission.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Special Education, Education, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Training and/or certification in Orton-Gillingham or a similar structured literacy program (preferred or willingness to obtain).
  • Experience working with students with language-based learning differences (e.g., dyslexia).
  • Strong understanding of structured literacy, phonological awareness, and multi-sensory instruction.
  • Ability to differentiate instruction and manage small-group learning effectively.
  • Excellent communication, organization, and collaboration skills.
  • Commitment to the mission and values of Catholic education.

Responsibilities

  • Provide explicit, systematic, and multi-sensory instruction using an Orton-Gillingham based approach to students with language-based learning differences.
  • Develop and implement individualized learning plans based on student needs, assessments, and progress monitoring.
  • Deliver instruction in a small-group setting (maximum 4:1 ratio), ensuring differentiated support for each student.
  • Assess student progress regularly and adjust instruction accordingly.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers, administrators, and parents to support student success across all academic settings.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of student performance, goals, and progress.
  • Foster a supportive, structured, and positive learning environment that builds student confidence and independence.
  • Communicate regularly with parents regarding student growth, strategies, and areas for continued support.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, professional development, and school activities as required.
  • Uphold and model the values and teachings of the Catholic faith in all interactions.
