About The Position

WQED Multimedia is seeking an Learning Neighborhood Manager to oversee the network of WQED schools, libraries, and community partners, fostering community engagement and supporting educational initiatives. This role plays a pivotal part in building relationships, curating resources, implementing programs, and facilitating professional development workshops to encourage family involvement and a passion for learning. The Learning Neighborhood Manager ensures that all participating partners have access to WQED/PBS-themed programs supporting 21st-century learners, contributing to a community that leads and sustains innovative educational approaches.

Requirements

  • Background in Education or related field; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • This role requires frequent travel to various locations within the WQED Learning Neighborhood. The Learning Neighborhood Manager must maintain a valid driver’s license and be available to travel within a 100-mile radius several days per week.
  • Delivery of partner resources may involve lifting and carrying small equipment, promotional materials, and other education-related items. Must be able to lift moderate weights.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The role may occasionally involve evening or weekend events, requiring flexibility in working hours to accommodate community partners’ schedules.
  • Genuine enthusiasm for public television, its role in community enrichment, and WQED’s mission to create experiences that educate, entertain and inspire our neighbors.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects effectively.
  • Experience in community outreach, relationship building, and partnership development.
  • Enthusiasm for fostering community connections and educational experiences.
  • Collaborate and coordinate with WQED staff.
  • Openness to learn software and systems used to manage and execute projects.

Responsibilities

  • Meet with community partners to assess their strengths and needs.
  • Curate programs for schools, libraries, and community partners using PBS and WQED resources.
  • Develop and nurture relationships with schools, libraries, and community organizations to expand program reach and impact.
  • Create new resources using media produced by PBS KIDS, PBS, and WQED to support schools, libraries, and community partners.
  • Assemble PBS and WQED resources into guides, webpages, and toolkits for Learning Neighborhood partners.
  • Attend in-person and virtual programs as necessary to assist educators, librarians, and community members with implementing PBS/WQED programming.
  • Track program numbers and events
  • Complete or provide information for evaluation reports, grant applications, and metrics reports for both internal and external partners/funders.
  • Utilize WQED and PBS KIDS content and resources to develop innovative, informative, and engaging professional development for educators.
  • Develop and update resources for webpages, PBS Learning Media, and blog sites.
  • Compose monthly newsletters to partners, sharing new resources, upcoming programming opportunities, and professional development workshops and recordings from WQED and PBS KIDS.
  • Prepare and present workshops at national and local levels that elevate the work of the WQED Education Team and partners.
  • Leverage the WQED network to connect organizations and resources to support and elevate the work of local schools, libraries, and their communities.
