About The Position

A Learning Experience Designer plays a pivotal role in the end-to-end lifecycle of product knowledge. This role is responsible for identifying, analyzing, designing, and developing high-quality documentation and innovative training courses for both internal and external audiences. This person bridges the gap between complex engineering concepts and user-friendly learning, creating everything from technical user manuals and online help systems to engaging e-learning modules and instructional videos. The role’s mission is to ensure that every Actabl user—regardless of technical proficiency—has the resources they need to master our products.

Requirements

  • Experience: 4-6 years of proven experience in technical writing or instructional design, preferably within the SaaS/software industry.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in English, Instructional Design, Communications, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in MS Office, Google Suite, and Learning Management Systems (LMS). Familiarity with eLearning authoring tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline, Captivate) and graphic technologies.
  • Adult Learning: Strong knowledge of adult learning principles (ADDIE, SAM, etc.) and technical communication processes.
  • Portfolio: Must provide exemplary writing samples and/or a portfolio of instructional materials.
  • Soft Skills: Strong consultative skills and the ability to make persuasive recommendations based on business rationale.
  • Ambiguity Management: Proven ability to work in and manage ambiguity, creating solutions where no process previously existed.

Responsibilities

  • Documentation & Course Authoring: Write, format, edit, and proofread procedural and technical information. Design engaging online course content using text, graphics, and interactive elements.
  • SME Collaboration: Work with Actabl Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), engineers, and R&D to gather technical information and translate complex functionality into accessible concepts.
  • Information Analysis: Conduct user/task analysis and needs assessments to determine documentation and training requirements.
  • Content Maintenance: Research product changes and proactively update application documentation and existing courseware.
  • Standards Adherence: Practice established development practices as set forth in the Actabl Corporate Communications Style Guide and adult learning principles.
  • Multimedia Creation: Create visual aids for face-to-face sessions and basic multimedia (graphics/videos) for online learning.
  • Perform peer reviews to ensure Actabl documentation is accurate, relevant, concise, easy to use, and conforms to style guide, writing standards, and Actabl quality metrics.
  • Effectively use established templates to create and publish documentation.
  • Project Planning: Develop documentation plans and development schedules for identified projects to meet product release dates.
  • Consultative Support: Advise other departments on user interface (UI) copy and technical writing standards.
  • Strategy Implementation: Implement effective learning strategies and documentation methods to meet specific business objectives.
  • Style Leadership: Edit/amend the style guide as standards change or create new templates to streamline departmental output.
  • Other duties as assigned.
