About The Position

Community Public Charter Learning Coach Definition : The employee collaborates with teachers to effectively adjust instructional strategies, classroom management, and assessment techniques to ensure student achievement. Collaborates at the school level also with the principal and assistant principal(s) to improve student achievement.

Requirements

  • Employee must be self-motivated, self-directed, collaborative, flexible, and highly organized.
  • Thorough knowledge of educational curriculum, instructional methodology, and technology with strong background and implementation of effective instructional practices through professional learning.
  • Ability to compare and/or judge the readily observable, functional, structural, or composite characteristics of data, people or things.
  • Ability to record and deliver information, to explain procedures, to follow oral and written instruction.
  • Ability to perform non-instructional duties as assigned.
  • Understands the growth and development of students.
  • Must be physically able to operate a variety of equipment including computers, copiers, etc.
  • Must be able to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally; and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree or higher from a regionally accredited college or university.
  • Five years of successful classroom teaching.
  • Licensed as a teacher in North Carolina.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in the field of education preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement lesson plans to provide diversified lessons specifically designed for targeted students.
  • Use instructional materials suitable for verbal and visual instruction of students with a wide range of mental, physical and emotional maturity.
  • Provide individual and group instruction designed to meet individual needs and motivate students.
  • Conduct small group instruction for struggling students.
  • Identify students’ needs through use of approved assessments and common formative assessments.
  • Support and work with principals, teachers, and school improvement teams to gain knowledge of the needs and strengths of each school.
  • Collaborate with principals to identify teachers who will benefit most from the support of the Learning Coach.
  • Model instructional best practices through demonstration teaching.
  • Collaborate with teachers and assist teachers in implementing effective practices.
  • Utilize assessment information before, during, and after instruction to guide instructional design.
  • Assist in analyzing data relative to the impact on activities and student achievement.
  • Maintain confidentiality of data and information.
  • Support and participate in Professional Learning Communities.
