About The Position

The Learning Center Manager will lead the development and implementation of educational programs and neighborhood improvement initiatives around an affordable housing community at 5712 Jackie Robinson St, Austin, TX 78721.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Social Work, or related field required.
  • OR completion of college level coursework in child development, child/adolescent psychology, social work or equivalent AND a minimum of 3 years of related work experience in high quality youth programs serving school-aged students, K-5th grade.
  • OR 5 or more years of related work experience with high quality youth programs serving school- aged students, K-5th grade that included training in relevant topics such as: Child Abuse Reporting, Program Quality, Behavior Management, Child Development, SEL (Social Emotional Learning) etc. This work experience must include at least one full year working at Foundation Communities’ learning centers in our youth programs.
  • Experience providing educational or social services to economically disadvantaged/diverse communities is required.
  • At least one year of staff supervision experience.
  • Availability to work some evening hours and weekends as needed for programming, parent meetings and other community events arise.
  • Ability to conduct in-person programming in accordance with CDC guidelines is required.

Nice To Haves

  • An understanding of SEL, Mindfulness, and Trauma Informed practices preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Manage an afterschool and summer program for school-aged youth, which includes program development, managing program staff, maintaining student data and completing grant reports. After-school and Summer Program initiatives will be required to be done in-person.
  • Recruit, train and supervise part-time staff to lead youth and adult programs, in compliance with CDC health and safety guidelines.
  • Establish on-going communication with community residents and neighborhood partners to determine areas of need and to ensure residents are aware of available programs and resources.
  • Work closely with partners, feeder school administration and teachers, and other Foundation Communities departments to increase collaboration in the provision of wrap-around support for students and families.
  • Communicate frequently with on-site staff across different departments, direct supervisor and other senior management staff to ensure that information regarding the program and community needs is conveyed.
  • Assist in coordination of Adult Basic Education, Health Initiatives and Financial Wellness programs with other departments of Foundation Communities, and other partner agencies.
  • Collaborate with other Foundation Communities staff in the areas of fundraising, communications, accounting, etc…
  • Research best practices and remain knowledgeable about developments in the field to maintain a successful in-person or virtual program.
