About The Position

Our Kumon Math and Reading Center is seeking a dedicated Center Assistant and Grader to join our team. This role is essential in our after-school learning program, which assists students from pre-kindergarten through high school in individualized math and reading studies. One of our primary goals is to foster self-learning within our students, and the Center Assistant plays a crucial role in achieving this. The responsibilities include developing knowledge of the Kumon method and worksheets, guiding and encouraging students, and grading classwork and homework to assess each student's abilities as they progress in their learning journey. As a Center Assistant, you will work efficiently and effectively with one or two younger or new Kumon students at a time, providing instruction through the utilization of the Kumon Method and worksheets. You will ensure that proper study habits and work skills are being developed and train the students in center routines. Individualizing strategies for student development based on their goals and maintaining communication with the Instructor is vital. Ongoing assessment of student skills development is also a key responsibility. In your role as a Grader, you will be responsible for grading student classwork, homework, and corrections, as well as organizing student worksheets. Ensuring that student classwork is completed and corrected to 100% is essential. You will assess oral reading ability with reading students and provide necessary feedback. Additionally, you will provide assistance and guidance to students as needed, adhering to Kumon Method standards and center procedures. Collaboration with other grading assistants to create a balanced workload is important to ensure grading is completed before the end of class. You will also prepare student files and provide the Instructor with written or verbal feedback based on your observations and student performance on worksheets. The position requires availability during weekday class hours between 2:00 PM and 6:30 PM, with the earliest shift starting at 11:00 AM. A minimum commitment of three days per week is required, with preference given to applicants who can work four to five days per week. Tasks outside of class hours may be required as needed. While no experience with children is necessary, it is welcomed and highly encouraged. A background check is mandatory for those interested in applying, and training will be provided.
