About The Position

The position involves serving as a case manager for students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs). The role requires consulting with classroom teachers and parents, delivering services within the IEP framework, and serving as an instructor in both general and special education classrooms. The educator will employ various instructional techniques and media to guide the learning process towards academic achievement and curriculum goals. Clear objectives for lessons and projects must be established and communicated to students. Regular assessment of student accomplishments is required, along with maintaining accurate records as mandated by law and district policy. The educator will also analyze standardized testing data to adjust instructional strategies and recognize the special needs of students, seeking assistance from district specialists when necessary. Building effective relationships with parents and students through regular communication is essential, as is maintaining a safe and orderly classroom environment. Additional duties may be assigned by district administration.

Requirements

  • Valid State of Illinois Professional Educator's License (PEL) with required content endorsements Learning Behavior Specialist.
  • Bilingual, Spanish Required.
  • EL endorsed preferred.
  • Ability to meet both the academic and developmental needs of students.
  • Ability to teach within a culturally and linguistically diverse setting.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, and textbooks.
  • Ability to write reports and general correspondence.
  • Ability to present information effectively and respond to questions from individuals and groups.
  • Basic computer skills; knowledge of IEP electronic programs.
  • Basic assistive technology knowledge.
  • Demonstrated ability to integrate multiple facets of technology to enhance learning and instruction.

Responsibilities

  • Serve duties assigned as case manager of students with IEPs.
  • Consult with classroom teachers and parents.
  • Deliver services via IEP framework.
  • Serve as instructor within general and special education classroom.
  • Employ a variety of instructional techniques, instructional media, and performance assessments.
  • Establish clear objectives for all lessons, curricular units, and projects.
  • Provide instruction at a professional level of competence.
  • Assess the accomplishments of students in a variety of ways and provide progress reports.
  • Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records as required by law and district policy.
  • Administer and analyze standardized testing data and adjust instructional strategies as needed.
  • Recognize the special needs of students and make appropriate individualized accommodations.
  • Serve on building-level and district-wide committees as needed.
  • Build effective relationships with parents and students through regular communication.
  • Assist in implementing all policies and rules governing student life and conduct.
  • Develop and inform students of reasonable rules concerning classroom procedures and behavior.
  • Maintain a safe and orderly classroom environment.
  • Perform all other duties assigned by the district administration.
