About The Position

The Learn & Play Associate at the YMCA of the Pikes Peak region is responsible for creating a joyful and enriching environment for children through play and hands-on activities. This role involves leading, supervising, and ensuring the safety of participants in youth programs, while fostering a supportive and interactive atmosphere. The position is part-time with shifts available in the evenings and on Saturdays.

Requirements

• Minimum age of 17 years
• Experience with children leading recreational activities preferred
• Current CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid, and Oxygen Administration certification

Responsibilities

• Help prepare, plan and implement a weekly curriculum
• Supervise and participate with participants during all large and small group activities
• Provide discipline for participants that are age appropriate and maintains respect for the child
• Possess a working knowledge of safety and emergency procedures and be able to exercise sound judgment
• Demonstrate proper care and storage of equipment and supplies
• Communicate effectively with all other staff, parents, and children
• Primary Responder for all accidents and incidents
• Supervise locker rooms and swim with children
• Complete routine and required forms to include, but not limited to: attendance records, observation records, and incident and injury reports
• Prepare snack or meals as assigned
• May be required to work hours outside of normal work schedule for trainings, extended program hours, PEAK, or association events
