The purpose of this position is to support and coordinate the implementation and ongoing execution of American Woodmark’s Lean Manufacturing initiative throughout the entire plant operation with the goal to deliver superior operating results and to further enhance our customer’s total quality experience.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or general equivalency degree (GED) is preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 to 3 years of manufacturing or assembly experience; experience with industrial planning or cutting equipment is preferred.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Makes independent judgments based on various alternatives. Performs complex procedures.
  • Up to two weeks training to perform job to standard.
  • Could handle cabinets and components up to 50% of the time.
  • Understands label matrix, nomenclature, option codes, use of scanner and use of mathematics.

Responsibilities

  • Support Project Teams in the completion of Lean Projects.
  • Create one-point lessons & standard work documents.
  • Audit one-point lessons & standard work documents.
  • Provide document control for one-point lessons & standard work documents.
  • Work with engineering and production teams to keep Value Stream Map up to date.
  • Support Quality Teams with Lean solutions when needed.
  • Work with Maintenance to finish Lean Projects.
  • Work with Materials & Engineering to modify plant layouts for efficiency.
  • Lead 5S activities as needed.
  • Maintain 5S toolbox for materials and tools.
  • Maintain Kaizen/TPM supplies for materials and tools.
  • Provide input and feedback for Lean training.
  • Act as Lean Trainer as needed.
  • Provide weekly project status updates.
  • Complete individual Plant training as required.
  • Encourage Plant Personnel in Lean and promote a positive attitude.
  • Learn new lean skills.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Operations Manager.
  • May be required to lift up to 20-50 pounds.
