About The Position

The Lean Engineer is expected to have advanced problem-solving skills, leadership and team management skills, and an in-depth knowledge of Lean and Six Sigma tools and methodologies. The Lean Engineer is pivotal to the Project, Data, and Change Management functions within the Quality Services division. The Lean Engineer provides organizational process consulting to the healthcare system for the purpose of facilitating clinical and operational process improvement activities that incorporate Lean, Six Sigma, project management and other organizational process/performance improvement methodology/tools. This position is responsible for planning, managing, analyzing, and measuring process events to meet the organizational needs for service, clinical, and operational excellence. Identifies critical areas for improvement and establishes a course of action. Collaborates with internal resources and departments as a change agent to ensure continuous improvement within the organization to meet strategic initiatives and goals.

Requirements

  • BS in Industrial Engineering, Statistics, Computer Science or related field.
  • 4 years experience in industrial engineering or business operations using Lean/Six Sigma.
  • Work experience with integrated health delivery system processes.
  • Advanced level Microsoft Excel abilities.
  • Advanced knowledge of database functionality.
  • Extensive report writing experience with Crystal Reports or similar report writing applications.
  • Good command of the English language in verbal and written communication.
  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification.
  • Obtain SRHS Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Certification within 1 year of employment.

  • Master's in Business Administration, Healthcare Administration or related field.

Responsibilities

  • Leads quality improvement projects and oversees performance of Yellow and Green Belts.
  • Acts as a coach, mentor, and instructor for White, Yellow, Green Belts.
  • Communicates effectively with all levels of the organization, from front-line staff to C-level executives.
  • Keeps up to date on organizational strategy and provides expertise in implementing organization-wide performance improvements in a wide variety of healthcare service lines.
  • Assumes responsibility and accountability for data management and analysis under the Data Management function in Quality Services.
  • Collaborates with the MIDAS+ System Manager and Data Quality Analyst to ensure accuracy, integrity, validity, reliability and consistency in report preparation.
  • Handles project management tasks including project planning, system design, build and testing, end user training and pre-live planning, and system live and support transition.
  • Performs data mining from multiple clinical, financial, and operational information systems to provide detailed data analysis, benchmarks, and generate reports for end users.
  • Provides training for change management, team building and facilitation, and Lean Six tools and methodologies to the organization's White, Yellow, and Green Belts.
  • Serves as resource specialist in support of the operational goals of assigned functional areas.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
