About The Position
Overview We are looking for motivated and passionate leaders to help guide our staff, support our campers, and ensure a smooth and successful summer program. The ideal candidate loves working with young children, thrives in a fast-paced, fun environment, and brings strong management and communication skills. Leadership team members are essential in setting the tone, maintaining structure, and modeling professionalism throughout the season. Leadership Positions: Assistant Director Village Director Camp Wiltmeet is a dynamic, youth-centered summer program dedicated to providing safe, memorable, and enriching experiences for children. Our camp blends hands-on learning, creative exploration, and traditional camp fun. We are looking for motivated and passionate leaders to help guide our staff, support our campers, and ensure a smooth and successful summer program. Camp Wiltmeet runs out of Lenape Elementary School in New Paltz, NY. Camp runs from June 30-August 14. “Y” Join Us? Requirements
- MUST be able to work a minimum of 4 weeks during the camp summer
- CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Strong management and communication skills
- Ability to work outdoors and participate in active play
- Passionate, reliable, and team-oriented
Responsibilities
- Assists the Camp Director and Youth Development Director in the overall leadership of camp operations
- Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies.
- Plan and implement developmentally appropriate summer camp activities
- Create a safe, positive, and engaging environment
- Supervise children during indoor and outdoor play
- Communicate effectively with families and coworkers
- Uphold all licensing, health, and safety standards
- Support daily routines including meals and transitions
