About The Position

This position is designed to develop an employee into a professional level position whether it be in sales, management, or a line position such as staff accountant. The professional development associate will direct their training toward a department of the company they are interested in. The available departments are: agronomy sales, agronomy operations, grain marketing, crop insurance, grain operation, energy sales and operations, and home office accounting and administrative functions. This position will attend all training classes as assigned.

Requirements

  • Good working knowledge of the properties of corn, wheat, beans, milo, and sunflowers.
  • Good working knowledge of seed, feed, chemical and fertilizer products.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Computer and data entry skills.
  • Ability to react to change productively and handle other essential tasks as assigned.
  • Be able to obtain and retain a class 7B grain fumigation license.
  • Obtain and retain a class A CDL with Haz Mat endorsement.
  • Be able to obtain and retain a class 1A certificate.
  • Strive to exceed customer expectations at each transaction.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and apply common scientific, technical, and legal journals.
  • Ability to respond cordially to inquiries or complaints.
  • Ability to write and log information, produce reports, and verbally communicate information.

Responsibilities

  • Work in an agronomy location and learn fertilizer and chemical warehouse operations.
  • Operate mixing equipment, manage inventory, and ensure accurate billing procedures.
  • Learn operation of a spray rig and tender truck.
  • Maintain agronomy equipment and develop effective delivery schedules.
  • Work in a grain handling facility to receive and ship grain efficiently.
  • Sample and inspect incoming and outgoing grain shipments.
  • Maintain grain quality in the elevator and blend grains as necessary.
  • Accurately account for all grain shipped in and out of the facility.
  • Provide grain drying services and report quality by grade and quantity.
  • Learn to fill and maintain NH3 equipment.
  • Understand OSHA, state & federal safety regulations and conduct monthly safety training.
  • Ride with field marketers and learn agronomic recommendations for customers.
  • Ride with grain marketing specialists to learn about contracts and marketing strategies.
  • Ride with crop insurance specialists to learn about insurance products and strategies.
  • Ride with certified energy specialists to learn about energy products and marketing strategies.
  • Supervise both full and part-time employees and develop training skills.
  • Advise location manager on discipline and performance issues.
  • Rotate through corporate office departments including accounting and human resources.
  • Greet customers promptly and courteously, assist with loading and unloading.
  • Attend product, merchandising, and company meetings to improve personal skills.
  • Learn and follow the company credit policy.
  • Maintain a positive attitude that promotes teamwork and a favorable company image.
