About The Position

Be a visible leader and architect of Kroger’s enterprise leadership development strategy. Develops strong partnerships with field leaders, understands business operations across stores, plants, distribution centers, fulfillment centers, and Store Support Center, and ensures the Academy’s offerings are modern, relevant, and impactful. Actively champions and elevates the Pearl Street Academy brand—setting the standard for excellence, credibility, and innovation in leadership development across the organization. Responsible for managing learning platforms, building curricula for critical leadership roles, and delivering standard development experiences. Cultivates credibility, collaboration, and continuous growth across the organization. Demonstrate the company’s core values of respect, honesty, integrity, diversity, inclusion, and safety.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5+ years of experience in talent development, leadership development, training, or organizational development, preferably in a large, complex organization.
  • Strong business acumen and credibility with field operations.
  • Demonstrated experience designing, implementing, and evaluating learning programs.
  • Excellent communication, relationship-building, and facilitation skills.
  • Experience managing learning platforms or digital education tools.
  • Passion for elevating leadership and driving business results through people.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in high-impact roles such as District Manager, Merchandiser, Site Leader, or equivalent positions.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Development, Education, or equivalent experience.
  • Certification in facilitation, instructional design, or leadership development.
  • Experience leading a team of trainers or program managers.
  • Knowledge of adult learning principles and leadership development best practices.
  • Experience with learning management systems (LMS).
  • Passion for elevating leaders and driving business results through people.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the visible leader and primary representative of Pearl Street Academy, fostering trust and credibility with field teams and senior leaders, while taking full ownership of the Academy’s strategy, program results and outcomes, and long-term return on investment (ROI).
  • Partner with field and business leaders to assess leadership development needs and align curricula to support capability building for key roles.
  • Design, implement, and manage leadership development programs, including standard offerings (e.g., District Manager development) and customized experiences for emerging leaders.
  • Oversee the Academy’s learning platforms, ensuring seamless access, user engagement, and continuous improvement of digital learning experiences.
  • Build and update curricula in collaboration with subject matter experts, incorporating industry best practices and business-specific needs.
  • Facilitate and certify foundational leadership workshops and support field training through Academy Managers and Trainers.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Talent Management, Human Resources Business Partners, and business units to ensure alignment and integration of leadership development strategies.
  • Evaluate program effectiveness through data analytics, feedback, and field validation, making recommendations for improvement and presenting outcomes and enhancements to executive leadership.
  • Champion Our Values and ensure they are imbedded in all Academy offerings.
  • Lead and develop a team of Academy Managers dedicated to program excellence, along with Trainers committed to delivering consistently high-quality training, all while nurturing a culture of growth, innovation, and excellence.
  • Supervise and coach direct reports in the performance of their duties; complete performance reviews and provide feedback to direct reports.
  • Travel up to 50% to field locations and business sites.
  • Ability to work cooperatively in high paced and sometimes stressful environment.
  • Ability to manage conflict in a reasonable, nonconfrontational and cooperative manner.
  • Ability to act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
  • Ability to follow directions and seek assistance when necessary to resolve customer and business issues.
