The Van Drunen Family of Companies is growing! Shift: 3rd Shift Friday through Monday, 11:00 PM to 9:30 AM (Four 10-hour days) JOB OVERVIEW: The Lead effectively and efficiently oversees and gives guidance within a complete production area and performs tasks to prepare food production runs following established safety, quality, and production standards for drying, freezing, dry processing, wet processing, sifting, grinding, boxing, re-boxing and packaging. The processes and tasks include disassembling, assembling, sanitizing, transporting, loading, unloading, and setting-up materials, supplies and equipment as well as assisting in the tending of various machines used throughout the production process.

  • Verify attendance standards are maintained by staff members.
  • Work with supervisor to address attendance issues.
  • Ensure quick start-ups ad efficiency during production time.
  • Prepare for each shift and ensure everything is ready.
  • Verify that the production schedule is followed, and all customer requests are met.
  • Respond to management instructions, make excellent decisions, and verify all tasks are completed on time.
  • Remain actively involved in learning.
  • Liaison with other departments frequently to make decisions regarding equipment operation that may improve efficiency, quality, or safety.
  • Ensure all training has taken place for new staff members.
  • Assist with and provide feedback for written reviews and development.
  • Keep others up to date on new procedures.
  • Take ownership over equipment set-up and operation in a work area.
  • Is an expert at operation of the equipment.
  • Verify equipment readiness shift-to-shift.
  • Train a team to follow all General Manufacturing Procedures (GMP's) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) while working. This includes wearing masks, safety glasses, protective equipment, ear plugs, etc. Remind co-workers of these expectations.
  • Actively identify and correct issues with product quality or handling.
  • Work with the safety and quality departments to verify all staff members complete required training.
  • Perform Critical Control Point (CCP) checks and verifications during production processes.
  • Ensure all checks are done properly.
  • Follow all safety procedures and verify the work area is always safe.
  • Work with safety and quality to ensure the staff is available to complete required trainings.
  • Report all safety issues using a computer program and participate in safety audits.
  • Know the required Lock Out/Tag Out (LOTO) procedures.
  • Participate in all LOTO procedures in a work area.
  • Understand LOTO procedures throughout the plant.
  • Verify others in a work area follow all LOTO procedures.
  • Immediately stop any improper LOTO procedures.
  • Lead and participate in extensive cleaning and sanitation procedures including documentation.
  • Participate in internal audits to identify issues.
  • Responsible for completion of weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual cleaning tasks according to a schedule.
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure tasks can be completed on time.
  • Assist with and participate in team meetings and shift change meetings.
  • Able and available to work overtime as required in order to meet production goals.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • At least 2 years of previous production experience required or equivalent combination of related experience, education, and training.
  • Basic computer skills and/or data recording skills including entering data into Excel, Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) scanner and desktop use, email, internet use for online training, and basic data entry.
  • Open, save, and share files.
  • Create shift reports, record documentation, and internal communication documents.
  • Analyze basic data to communicate performance using charts and graphs.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide using whole numbers, fractions, and decimals.
  • Count items and report weights accurately.
  • This position requires the employee to count, track, and make adjustments to inventory in a work area.
  • Previous experience leading a team is preferred.
  • Previous forklift experience a plus.
  • Forklift certification may be required. Education and certification will be provided as needed.
  • This role may further qualify for supplemental compensation in the form of bonus and incentive programs, contingent upon achieving pre-established individual and company performance metrics.
