Technica Corporation is seeking a highly motivated, dynamic, self-directed individual to fill the Air Force Base Infrastructure Modernization (BIM) Lead Wired Engineer position. This position will oversee all wired network aspects of the TO and serve as the main POC for all wired networking issues related to this TO.

Requirements

  • Active Secret clearance with TS/SCI eligibility
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical-related field, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience in a related field
  • Minimum of 8 years’ related experience
  • Network engineering technical certifications provided within DoD 8140/DCWF
  • Prior experience with designing, configuring, and troubleshooting Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) networks to include hardware (switches, routers), Intent-based networking, network management systems (NMS), network access control (NAC), quality of service (QoS), network services (timing, logging, etc.), and ISP/OSP distribution systems (DS) (fiber and copper cables and infrastructure).
  • Demonstrated experience with: Routing and switching, including routing protocols (OSPF, BGP), deep knowledge of IPv4 and IPv6 addressing, VLAN design and trunking, high-availability features, and spanning tree optimization.
  • Network design and implementation, including campus network design principles, network segmentation and access, Layer 2 and Layer 3 network topology planning, and network capacity planning.
  • Network hardware expertise, including enterprise routers and high-end switches, fiber optic technologies, and Small Form-factor Pluggable (SFP) and Quad Small Form-factor Pluggable (QSFP) optics, and cabling standards.
  • Familiarization with DoD implementations, including cybersecurity standards, risk management framework, Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs), DoD PKI and certificate frameworks, and ATO.

Nice To Haves

  • 5 years’ experience working on Department of Air Force (DAF) programs and/or knowledge of DAF-relevant projects.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and sustain a modernized wireless network infrastructure aligned with USG technical requirements.
  • Support the establishment of a Network Integration Lab (NIL) and the associated activities to certify wired network design before deployment to the target site.
  • Develop network designs based on DoD Architecture Framework (DoDAF) formats.
  • Support PMO and the local base Communications Squadron.
  • Work closely with the PMO/specified personnel to facilitate effective planning and timely execution of critical objectives.
  • Support the PM with subcontractor interface requirements.
  • Notify the USG PMO and the TO PM immediately of any technical problems or issues.
  • Provide Tier 3 advanced wireless engineering support after production network transitions to the sustainment phase.
  • Support the preparation and delivery of engineering documents prior to submission to the USG. This includes, but is not limited to, Site Preparation Requirements and Installation Plan (SPRIP), previously known as, Telecommunication Systems Installation Plan (TSIP), Preliminary Integration Review (PIR), Critical Integration Review (CIR), and Integration Plan Acceptance (IPA), System/Subsystem Design Document (S/SDD), Qualification Test Plans and Procedures, and Assessment and Authorization documents to achieve an Authority to Operate (ATO).
