About The Position

TBEI, Lake Crystal is looking for a skilled and motivated Lead for our Welding Department. This individual will lead a team of welders, ensuring production goals are met while maintaining high-quality craftsmanship in welding. In addition to performing welding tasks, the Lead will organize workflows, communicate effectively with team members and supervisors, and support continuous improvement efforts. Job Summary: Leading and assisting employees to meet the production schedule while maintaining your personal production responsibilities Assign tasks and distribute workload effectively to meet daily production requirements and deadlines. Communicate effectively with employees and supervisor and other areas as required (i.e., documentation, reports). Identify resources required and maintain appropriate inventory levels for assigned work area. Assisting the supervisor with employee performance appraisals and holding employees accountable for company expectations, such as values and policies (i.e. safety, attendance, code of conduct, etc.) Assisting the supervisor in leading employees to achieve the SQDIP metrics (Safety, Quality, Delivery, Inventory, and Productivity). Complete Continuous Improvement activities in assigned work area to improve processes and productivity. Actively engage in welding, demonstrating high-quality craftsmanship while adhering to safety protocols. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Post high school education is preferred.
  • Must be proficient with computer skills, including use of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and comfort ability maneuvering through internet applications and reports.
  • Lead with Safety as a priority, following safety and environmental requirements and work procedures.
  • Assist with safety-related investigations, including root cause analysis and completing action items.
  • Must be able to prioritize and meet customer delivery dates.
  • Understand a Bill of Material structure and product flow.
  • Ability and motivation to learn and understand operations in assigned area of responsibility, which may include CNC machine operation, fabrication, welding, paint, and installation.
  • Effectively communicate with employees in assigned area and with all levels of management.
  • Must have leadership, flexibility, and interpersonal skills to identify, analyze, and solve problems along with train and mentor employees.
  • An understanding of Continuous Improvement principles and the ability to lead employees in the use of Lean tools.
  • Proven experience in a welding
  • Prompt and reliable attendance.
  • The weekly schedule is 40 - 50 hours per week. Additional and flexible hours may be required to meet customer needs.
  • Ability to work on concrete in a variety of positions including but not limited to kneeling, crouching, bending, twisting, turning, and occasionally climbing.
  • Ability to walk and stand on concrete for 90% of the shift.
  • Ability to manually move product and materials up to 50 lbs. through occasional heavy physical exertion, including but not limited to lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, and bending.
  • Using an overhead hoist requires the ability to push and pull up to 100 lbs.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of the metal fabrication industry is preferred.
