About The Position

THE ROLE: We’re looking for a Lead UX Mobile Developer to shape and validate next-generation mobile experiences acting as a UX innovation leader, not just a delivery-focused designer. In this role, you’ll turn ambiguous user needs, emerging behaviors, and evolving business hypotheses into testable, differentiated mobile experiences. You’ll balance rapid discovery and experimentation with scalable, adaptable build frameworks, ensuring ideas can grow into lasting products. Operating at the intersection of user insight, experimentation, and product strategy, you’ll help define what should be built before it’s fully specified — guiding direction, not just execution. This is not a traditional “design-to-requirements” UX role. You will:● Work in high-ambiguity, early-stage problem spaces● Use research, prototyping, and experimentation to reduce uncertainty● Influence product direction through evidence and insight● Help transition validated concepts into scalable build systems and delivery teams HOW YOU WOULD CONTRIBUTE: Discovery, Research & Problem Framing● Lead mobile-specific discovery efforts to understand unmet user needs, behaviors, and moments of friction● Reframe product questions into user-centered problem statements and hypotheses● Conduct qualitative and quantitative research (interviews, usability testing, analytics) with a bias toward learning speed● Identify assumptions embedded in requirements and challenge them with evidence________________________________________Experimentation & Validation● Design and test low- and high-fidelity prototypes to validate desirability, usability, and comprehension● Partner with engineering and product to define experiments, pilots, and A/B tests● Instrument designs with measurable signals to assess success or failure● Rapidly iterate or stop concepts based on learning outcomes________________________________________Mobile Experience Design● Design mobile-first interaction models optimized for touch, context, and behavior, not just screens● Define information architecture, navigation patterns, and interaction flows for iOS and Android● Apply and selectively bend platform guidelines (HIG, Material) when innovation requires it● Ensure accessibility and inclusive design principles are embedded from the start________________________________________Experience Strategy & Systems Thinking● Connect individual UX decisions to end-to-end journeys and ecosystem experiences● Influence mobile design systems to support both experimentation and scale● Balance near-term discovery needs with long-term consistency and maintainability● Identify experience patterns that can become reusable platform capabilities________________________________________Collaboration & Influence● Facilitate design thinking and co-creation workshops with cross-functional teams● Partner deeply with Mobile Innovation Engineers to explore feasibility and constraints early● Communicate insights and build rationale clearly to senior collaborators ● Influence roadmap direction through prototypes, evidence, and user insight________________________________________Innovation → Scale Enablement● Help resolve when experiences are ready to transition from exploration to delivery● Document validated patterns, principles, and findings for handoff to scale teams ● Support production teams to preserve experience intent during implementation WHAT’S SPECIAL ABOUT THE TEAM: You will not be measured by:● Number of screens produced● Pixel excellence alone● Collaborator approval alone You will be measured by:● Insight generated● Assumptions challenged● Direction changed● Experiences validated If you thrive in ambiguity, believe design is a strategic lever—not just execution—and want to shape mobile experiences before they are fully defined, this role is for you.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in UX build with significant focus on mobile applications; experience with multiple projects or engagements preferred
  • Validated work across early-stage discovery and scaled products preferred
  • Mobile UX strategy and interaction build
  • User research methodologies (qualitative & quantitative) and usability testing
  • Mobile interaction build, information architecture, and journey mapping
  • Deep knowledge of iOS and Android UX guidelines (Human Interface Guidelines, Material Design)
  • Prototyping and wireframing tools (Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD)
  • Confirmed comfort working with incomplete or evolving problem definitions
  • Strong problem-framing and analytical thinking
  • Experience crafting for experimentation, not just delivery
  • Proficiency in interpreting insight into actionable build decisions
  • Preference for learning, iteration, and stopping weak ideas early
  • Proven track record of crafting successful mobile applications with strong user engagement metrics
  • Deep knowledge of mobile user behavior, contexts, and constraints
  • Expertise in mobile-specific UX patterns, including gesture building, touch targets, and responsive layouts
  • Strong collaborator management and presentation abilities
  • Ability to translate complex user insights into clear, actionable build recommendations

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with mobile analytics tools (Firebase, Mixpanel, Amplitude) and experimentation platforms
  • Familiarity with service design and omnichannel journeys
  • Exposure to emerging interaction models (user experience improved by AI, voice, sensors, AR)
  • Contributions to design systems, pattern libraries, or experimental labs
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards and user-centered building principles for mobile (WCAG, ADA)
  • Understanding of mobile development processes and technical constraints and tradeoffs
  • Experience with conversational UI and voice interfaces
  • Familiarity with emerging mobile technologies (AR/VR, wearables, foldables)

Responsibilities

  • Lead mobile-specific discovery efforts to understand unmet user needs, behaviors, and moments of friction
  • Reframe product questions into user-centered problem statements and hypotheses
  • Conduct qualitative and quantitative research (interviews, usability testing, analytics) with a bias toward learning speed
  • Identify assumptions embedded in requirements and challenge them with evidence
  • Design and test low- and high-fidelity prototypes to validate desirability, usability, and comprehension
  • Partner with engineering and product to define experiments, pilots, and A/B tests
  • Instrument designs with measurable signals to assess success or failure
  • Rapidly iterate or stop concepts based on learning outcomes
  • Design mobile-first interaction models optimized for touch, context, and behavior, not just screens
  • Define information architecture, navigation patterns, and interaction flows for iOS and Android
  • Apply and selectively bend platform guidelines (HIG, Material) when innovation requires it
  • Ensure accessibility and inclusive design principles are embedded from the start
  • Connect individual UX decisions to end-to-end journeys and ecosystem experiences
  • Influence mobile design systems to support both experimentation and scale
  • Balance near-term discovery needs with long-term consistency and maintainability
  • Identify experience patterns that can become reusable platform capabilities
  • Facilitate design thinking and co-creation workshops with cross-functional teams
  • Partner deeply with Mobile Innovation Engineers to explore feasibility and constraints early
  • Communicate insights and build rationale clearly to senior collaborators
  • Influence roadmap direction through prototypes, evidence, and user insight
  • Help resolve when experiences are ready to transition from exploration to delivery
  • Document validated patterns, principles, and findings for handoff to scale teams
  • Support production teams to preserve experience intent during implementation
