About The Position

The Lead Utility Worker/Utility Worker position involves leading a crew in the maintenance, repair, and construction of the District's infrastructure, including canals, pipelines, and pumping plants. The role requires evaluating and coordinating installation and maintenance tasks, ensuring the proper functioning of equipment, and performing general maintenance tasks. The Lead Utility Worker is responsible for overseeing the crew, while the Utility Worker performs various skilled and semi-skilled tasks related to infrastructure maintenance.

Requirements

• Two years of current experience in performing skilled work in the maintenance of potable and non-potable water and distribution systems for Lead Utility Worker.
• Graduation from high school or equivalent for both positions.
• Prior employment in laboring work providing familiarity with construction or maintenance equipment for Utility Worker.
• Possession of a valid Class B California Driver License with a satisfactory driving record for Lead Utility Worker.
• Possession and maintenance of a Distribution Level D2 certificate by the California State Water Resources Control Board for Lead Utility Worker.

Responsibilities

• Lead and work with a crew in the maintenance, repair, and construction of the District's infrastructure.
• Evaluate and coordinate installation, maintenance, and repair tasks for water and distribution systems.
• Ensure the proper functioning of various equipment and facilities.
• Perform general maintenance tasks such as weed abatement, carpentry, painting, cement work, sandblasting, and pipe installation or repair.
• Participate in after-hours emergency repairs and scheduled stand-by duty rotation.

Benefits

• Salary range for Lead Utility Worker: $81,328.00 - $117,811.20 annually plus a 5% COLA for 2025.
• Salary range for Utility Worker: $54,704.00 - $89,523.20 annually plus a 5% COLA for 2025.
